Print | Email More While the Rolling Stones have been laying low recently, Mick Jagger took to Skype on Monday to plead for donations to help Haitians affected by last week's devastating earthquake. Jagger appeared on Larry King's special 'Haiti: How You Can Help,' which also included musicians such as Ringo Starr, Snoop Dogg, Diddy, Jennifer Lopez, Pete Wentz and Jared Leto manning donation phone lines. The two-hour program raised $5 million for UNICEF and the American Red Cross.

"Haiti is obviously one of the most poor countries in the Western Hemisphere," Jagger said, "and when these terrible disasters happen in a very poor place, the result is magnified over and over and over what it would be in a country more accessible or with more infrastructure left. This is a huge massive disaster for one of the poorest, poorest countries -- it's so poor, it's very hard to describe how poor it is compared to all the other countries in our hemisphere."

"An earthquake is incredibly, physically damaging but it's also psychologically damaging because all the laws that govern your life -- your walking, the ground beneath your feet, everything happening to you -- is destroyed in those moments," he continued. "It's very gratifying to see so much outpouring of help from every country, in every way -- from people giving money, from people sending support groups. I think there's not been one, the slightest hint of problems with people wanting to send money or help every possible way they can."

"People have been wonderfully generous," Jagger said of the relief efforts. He encouraged people to donate by texting "Haiti" to the Red Cross relief fund at 90999 or "Unicef" to 20222. "It's a beautiful country with very welcoming people, with fantastic culture, with wonderful music, with incredible dance and strange history," Jagger said of Haiti. "It's a unique country and it's very, very sad when you see this happening to somewhere you've been."

riemergo dal mio voluto esilio da questo forum solo per dire: Mick sei un grandissimo uomo, e non "solamente" un grandissimo cantante. una cosa che mi offende è che sui telegiornali italiani non hanno per niente parlato del tuo immenso cuore, della tua bontà eccetera eccetera (quando si parla di te non si torvano più parole per esprimere la tua magnificenza)...e la cosa mi da proprio fastidio. solo capaci di criticare sono. io lo so che sei magnifico e vorrei che lo sapesse tutto il mondo, invece qua non sprecano una parola in tuo onore.

Solita storia, se una rockstar viene arrestata per possesso di droga o per rissa o per ubriachezza molesta, se viene ricoverata per overdose o cose simili, titoloni sui giornali e servizi nei tg.
Se invece compie un bel gesto...

Prima di tutto Mick Jagger non è una rockstar ma " E' LA ROCKSTAR PER ECCELLENZA"
Poi quello che lo distingue da altre rockstarine è che lui fa una donazione ed è finita li', gli altri vanno avanto a scassare la minchia per mesi per mettersi in mostra e farsi pubblicità sulla pelle della povera gente e non faccio nomi ma ci siamo intesi di chi parlo. Si fingono paladini della pace e vanno a stringere le mani a quelli che della pace non gliene po frega' de meno (Prodigal correggimi se ho scritto male in romanesco). Questi individui mi fanno sachifo come la loro musica e li disprezzo dal piu' profondo dei miei sentimenti. Grande Jagger dunque e soprattutto bello in forma. Per fortuna gli Stones sono sempre stati diversi dagli altri e non solo musicalmente.
