Rolling Stones fans no doubt will remember the following two dates: October 29 and November 1, 2006. For those with hazy memories, it was on these two nights that The Rolling Stones performed at New York's legendary Beacon Theatre for two of the smallest audiences of their A Bigger Bang tour. During the historic two night stand, Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Martin Scorsese captured every moment, both onstage and off, for his new concert film, "Shine A Light".

On September 21st, another date you'll be sure to remember, Paramount Classics, in association with Concert Productions International and Shangri-La Entertainment, will release nationwide "Shine A Light," a look at The Rolling Stones, the band that defined the very idea of what a rock & roll band is, live through the eyes of Martin Scorsese.

I liked the Texas concert, the documentary, but their were some glitches. The DVD stopped and stalled a couple of times during the documentary. My new Sharp 52 inch Aqua television didn't work with the menu on the DVD, nor with my computer. The Texas concert was a lot of fun, especially the Waylon Jenning's tune about Bob Wills. I've only gotten to see about half of the set, but it looks and sounds pretty good. The Rio concert for a million or two made Woodstock look small.

Paolo Nutini si può definire un cantautore che vive per la musica, il canto e lo scrivere canzoni. Ha iniziato la sua carriera da adolescente ed in soli pochi anni ha realizzato un cammino prodigioso. La sua musica molto ispirata al soul, dice lo stesso Paolo, si ispira alla sua vita e prende spunto da grandi modelli come i Beatles, Bowie, U2, Pink Floyd, Bowie e Oasis. La sua carriera nasce puramente per un caso del destino.

David Sneddon fu il vincitore quattro anni fa della prima serie di Fame Academy della BBC. Il piuttosto capace cantautore era di Paisley e quindi il suo trionfo nello show ebbe grande eco a casa. Per il suo atteso ritorno dalle luci scintillanti del centro televisivo della BBC, il consiglio comunale aveva prenotato la sala delle feste del municipio per il suo primo vero concerto. Ma Sneddon, come spesso fanno le pop star, subì un ritardo durante il viaggio e il pubblico si stava indisponendo. Un DJ di una radio locale, come spesso fanno i DJ delle radio locali, saltò quindi sul palco e lanciò un quiz improvvisato, il vincitore del quale avrebbe avuto la possibilità di cantare un paio di canzoni al pubblico presente. Paolo, nonostante avesse provato ad evitarlo, vinse. "All’inizio mi dissi, neanche morto salirò su quel palco,” racconta. Ma la sua ragazza, che l’aveva trascinato al concerto, insisté perché lo facesse. E così eccolo lì, di fronte al suo primo vero pubblico. I secondi trascorsero e poi, finalmente, lasciò uscire quella voce che, a dire il vero, dovrebbe appartenere a qualcun altro. Il pubblico impazzì e tra di loro c’era colui che sarebbe presto diventato il manager di Paolo.Poco dopo avvenne il trasferimento a Londra per diventare un cantante e registrare un album.

La svolta poi arriva con Internet. Un paio di suoi brani presenti nella rete diventano tra i più scaricati grazie al passaparola e lui acquista celebrità come artista "creato da Internet". La major discografica Atlantic non si lascia sfuggire l'occasione e lo mette subito sotto contratto facendogli incidere il suo primo album "These Streets" a Liverpool con Ken Nelson, produttore dei Coldplay.

Come se non fosse già abbastanza il giovane cantautore è stato invitato dai Rolling Stones ad aprire la data viennese del loro "A Bigger Bang Tour", oltre ad aver precedentemente cantato in uno dei più prestigiosi auditorium di tutto il mondo, il Carnegie Hall di New York e sotto la direzione musicale di Marvin Hamlish ha anche cantato nel corso di uno speciale concerto presieduto da Liza Minelli, in uno speciale tributo ad Ahmet Ertegun, l’ottantaduenne co-fondatore della prestigiosa etichetta discografica Atlantic Records.

L’album ha già venduto oltre un milione di copie nel mondo (doppio platino in Inghilterra) e Paolo si appresta ad affrontare il lancio del suo disco negli Stati Uniti.

Il prossimo singolo “New Shoes” sta già ottenendo ottimi risultati sia negli Stati Uniti che nel nostro paese dove è stabilmente nella top 20 dei brani più suonati dalle radio.
