Su Iorr qualcuno ha scritto che secondo uno che lavora per l'Universal, i Rolling avranno un meeting ad Ottobre per decidere se fare o meno il Tour Sudamericano ad inizio anno; previsto anche un nuovo album in studio per la seconda parte del 2016...

A settembre gli appassionati di automobili e di Rock ‘n Roll potranno aggiudicarsi un pezzo unico da aggiungere alla propria collezione. Bonhams ha infatti annunciato che durante il prossimo Goodwood Revival si terrà un’asta dove sarà messa all’incanto la Bentley S3 Continental Flying Spur di Keith Richards, dei Rolling Stones. Prodotta in sole 87 unità la Bentley S3 Continental Flying Spur venne ribattezzata dalla band britannica come Blue Lena in onore della leggendaria jazzista Lena Horne.

La vettura è stata utilizzata da Keith Richards per i propri spostamenti ma ha anche trasportato più volte la band negli studi di registrazione ed ai concerti. Tra le altre cose la Bentley S3 Continental Flyng Spur venne modificata per alloggiare un vano segreto per trasportare sotanze proibite durante gli spostamenti della band.

Keith Richards restò proprietario di questa Bentley S3 Continental Flying Spur dal 1965 al 1978, e dalla fine degli anni settanta ad oggi la vettura è stata posseduta solo da altre tre persone. Vista la particolare storia di questa Bentley S3 Continental Flying Spur Bonhams si aspetta offerte fino a ben 850 mila euro.

Mick Jagger diventa geloso quando Keith Richards lavora con altre persone.
Il chitarrista dei Rolling Stones è convinto che sia questa una delle cause che hanno portato Jagger a decidere di tornare in tour nel 2013, subito dopo aver appreso dei progetti solisti di Keith: "Ho cominciato a lavorare al disco quando la situazione con i Rolling Stones era in una fase di stallo, quindi non c'erano problemi legati ai nostri impegni. L'unica cosa che mi interessava nel registrare il disco era prendermi il tempo che mi serviva in modo da pubblicarlo al mondo giusto.
Ma ho la sensazione che Mick lo abbia scoperto ed abbia deciso di tornare a lavorare con gli Stones.
Non è che lui ami particolarmente lavorare sempre con me, ma non viole che io lavori con nessun altro. Da questo punto di vista penso che sia un po' geloso".

Ma a quanto pare nonostante alcuni sentimenti contrastanti, Richards si è goduta l'esperienza da solista con il suo "Crosseyed Heart": "E' divertente perché per certi aspetti mi sentivo di essere un po' sleale. Gli altri membri della band pensavano che fossi pazzo a fare una cosa del genere. So che non ne avevo bisogno, ma era semplicemente una cosa che volevo fare. E' stato un lavoro molto interessante, non c'era una band e con Steve Jordan abbiamo avuto la libertà di fare tutto quello che volevamo".

26 Years Ago: The Rolling Stones Begin Their Blockbuster Era With Steel Wheels Tour


The Rolling Stones had spent much of the ’80s on the sidelines. Despite increasing friction between Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, the band kept putting out albums — though to relatively lukewarm reactions. Touring, however, was another story. By 1989, the Rolling Stones hadn’t played a live show in seven years.

Their longest concert drought (before or since) officially ended on Aug. 31, 1989, when the Stones launched the Steel Wheels North American Tour at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia — though, technically, the drought ended a couple of weeks earlier at a warm-up show in New Haven, Conn.

This tour was named for their then-new album Steel Wheels, released to enthusiastic reviews two days prior. Jagger and Richards had patched up things earlier in the year, then set about writing and recording a project that felt like “classic Stones.” Meanwhile, Jagger (then in his mid-40s) was consistently pressed on whether this would his band’s final tour — a line of questioning that seems increasingly ridiculous decades later.

Besides, Jagger, Richards, Ron Wood, Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts had a ready answer in the form of a marathon, 28-song opening date. After kicking off the show with the one-two combo of “Start Me Up” and “Bitch,” Jagger showed he could hold up better than the power equipment – which blew a generator during “Shattered,” the third song of the evening. Within minutes, the power returned and the Rolling Stones regrouped, carrying on with the Steel Wheels cut “Sad, Sad, Sad.” But they’d superstitiously drop “Shattered” from subsequent shows.

The set list represented just about every Stones era, from early blues covers (Willie Dixon’s “Little Red Rooster” from back in 1964) to psychedelic experimentation (“2000 Light Years From Home”) to country-rock (“Dead Flowers”) and even some ’80s material (“Undercover of the Night”). Richards gave Jagger a break down the stretch by fronting the band for a couple of his own songs (“Happy” and “Before They Make Me Run”) before Jagger returned to take it home with wall-to-wall hits (“Brown Sugar,” “Satisfaction,” etc.).

This being the Stones’ first big tour since 1982, spectacle wasn’t sacrificed. The band took the stage amid crackling fireworks and roaring flame towers — both of which would become de rigueur on future tours. They also introduced what might be the most garish stage decorations in rock history: a pair of giant inflatable barflies that flanked the stage during “Honky Tonk Women.”

As the mammoth tour continued, the Rolling Stones seemed to only gain momentum. “We’re keeping our fingers crossed, and I’ll hit the wood here, but, yeah, they’re getting better every day,” he told Rolling Stone. “The band’s really winding up now.” He also called 1989 a “dream year” for the Stones, and predicted that the North American tour would become a worldwide one in 1990 . In fact, it did, although it was rechristened the Urban Jungle Tour before hitting Europe.

As dates flew by, the Rolling Stones recorded a live album (Flashpoint), broadcast a live pay-per-view special, one that was later edited into a prime-time concert special for Fox, and filmed an IMAX movie (Rolling Stones: Live at the Max) that was the first feature film completed with only IMAX cameras.

In some ways, the Steel Wheels dates marked the start of a new way of touring. It was the Stones’ first tour with backing vocalists Bernard Fowler and Lisa Fischer and the first American trek with keyboardist and musical director Chuck Leavell. And, of course, it makes the first in a line of record-breaking, arena-sized blowouts that would continue into the new millennium.

None of those subsequent tours, however, would include the band’s founding bassist Bill Wyman as a full-time member. Wyman decided he’d had enough and quit the band after the 1989-90 concerts. In this way, the Steel Wheels tour was both the beginning and the end of a Stones era.

Il nuovo album di inediti dei Rolling Stones. Parla Keith Richards: 'Vorrei tornare in studio da aprile 2016'

Si torna a parlare del nuovo album dei Rolling Stones, la cui ultima prova discografica ad essere composta da soli brani inediti, "A bigger band", risale ormai al 2005 (ben dieci anni fa). In un'intervista rilasciata a Entertainment Weekly a circa tre mesi di distanza dalle ultime dichiarazioni in merito all'album della band, infatti, Keith Richards ha detto:
"Dopo il tour in Sud America in programma tra febbraio e marzo 2016, mi piacerebbe tornare in studio. Magari ad aprile. Ma so come sono fatti gli atri: quando finiscono un tour, non vogliono più muoversi. Sto cercando di convincerli a tornare a lavorare, forse succederà quest'anno, ma sinceramente non posso darvi una risposta precisa".

Lo stesso Keith Richards, lo ricordiamo, lo scorso mese di giugno aveva dichiarato:
"Nuovo album? Curioso che se ne parli. La scorsa settimana la parola 'studio' è saltata fuori mentre stavamo provando. Allora io ho detto: 'Va bene, troviamo il tempo per andarci. Io sono pronto".

Keith Richards: “Un nuovo album degli Stones nel 2016”

I Rolling Stones non solo non hanno alcuna voglia di smettere di suonare dal vivo, ma potrebbero addirittura pubblicare un nuovo album nel corso del 2016.

Una notizia clamorosa fatta trapelare da Keith Richards durante un’intervista Entertainment Weekly. “Sto cercando di riportare gli Stones dentro uno studio di registrazione –ha dichiarato Keef- ma non credo che succederà quest’anno. Dopo che finiremo il tour in Sud America, a febbraio e a marzo del 2016, vorrei tornare in studio ad aprile. Ma so come sono fatti quei ragazzi: quando finiscono un tour non hanno voglia di fare niente!”.

Il grande chitarrista ha negato le voci di un possibile scioglimento della band alla fine del tour mondiale: “Le persone dicono che ci separeremo alla fine di ogni tour fin dal 1975. Se ci fosse qualcuno che dovrebbe essere interessato a quando ci scioglieremo, quelli dovrebbero essere gli Stones, e loro non sono particolarmente interessati a farlo”.

In attesa di un nuovo album dei Rolling Stones, i fan di Richards potranno consolarsi il 18 settembre con la pubblicazione del nuovo album Crosseyed Heart, a 19 anni di distanza da Wingless Angels del 1996, composto da quindici brani tra rock, blues, country e reggae.

Dopo il primo singolo Trouble, pubblicato il 17 luglio, Keef ha reso disponibili in streaming gratuito altri due brani, Substantial damage e Amnesia.

Crosseyed Heart e' stato realizzato con il contributo di alcuni elementi della backing band di Richards, gli Xpensive Wino, e avrà Norah Jones come ospite.

Hanno partecipato al disco anche i suoi vecchi amici Steve Jordan alla batteria, Waddy Wachtel alla chitarra e Bernard Fowler ai cori.

42 Years Ago: The Rolling Stones’ ‘Star Star’ Banned by the BBC



On Sept. 10, 1973, the Rolling Stones broke a 10-year history of clean, upstanding living when the BBC announced that “Star Star” was banned on account of its obscene lyrics.

The Chuck Berry-styled rocker, off their then-new album Goats Head Soup, deals with a woman for whom Mick Jagger is just another celebrity notch on her presumably rhinestone-studded belt. Written as “Starf—er,’ its name was changed at the behest of Atlantic Records chief Ahmet Ertegun. The chorus, however, still features Jagger repeatedly calling the woman by the original title’s slur.

As if the lyrics weren’t direct enough, Jagger drove the point home in concert. During the performance of that song on the 1975 tour, a giant inflatable penis would appear on the stage, which Jagger would ride.

Another source of controversy was in the final verse, where Jagger hears rumors about her sexual activity with actor Steve McQueen, and that she had her eyes set on Hollywood legend John Wayne. Perhaps the latter was a bit too iconoclastic. In the live version from 1978 that you can hear above, Jagger changed the lyric to take a shot at a fellow rocker. “Jimmy Page / Was quite a rage / I could not see the reason why.”

Despite being banned by the BBC, “Star Star” was released as a single in more permissive European countries like Germany and France.

52 Years Ago: The Beatles Write a Song for the Rolling Stones



In the Beatles‘ early days, John Lennon and Paul McCartney often gave songs to their friends. That’s exactly what happened when they wrote “I Wanna Be Your Man” for the Rolling Stones at London’s De Lane Lea Studio on Sept. 10, 1963.

The meeting of the two groups was arranged by Rolling Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham, who had also been the Beatles publicist. “Oldham had almost literally bumped into Lennon and McCartney as they stepped out of a cab,” Bill Janovitz writes in Rocks Off: 50 Tracks that Tell the Story of the Rolling Stones. “He invited them to the studio where the Stones were rehearsing and, right then and there, the two finished off what had been a McCartney sketch of an idea, handing it the Stones for their single.”

At the time, the Rolling Stones had only released one single, a cover of Chuck Berry‘s “Come On,” which had been released in June. Their repertoire consisted exclusively of R&B covers. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards would later credit being able to watch Lennon and McCartney that day with giving them a greater understanding of how to write a song.

That certainly came in handy later, when Oldham famously locked them in the kitchen until they composed something. The result? “As Tears Go By.”

Meanwhile, Lennon and McCartney had become a prolific songwriting team, frequently giving cast-off tracks to friends like Gerry and the Pacemakers (“Do You Want to Know a Secret”), Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas (“Bad to Me”) and Cilla Black (“Step Inside Love”).

In the case of “I Wanna Be Your Man,” a few changes needed to be made. The Rolling Stones put a tougher R&B beat behind the song and Brian Jones contributed its distinctive slide guitar part. They recorded the song a month later, and it was released on Nov. 1. “I Wanna Be Your Man” reached No. 12 on the U.K. charts. The Beatles’ version came out three weeks later on With the Beatles, with Ringo Starr taking the lead vocal.

Durante una lunga intervista per IHeartRadio ICONS Q+A tenutasi all' IHeartRadio Theater di New York davanti a una platea selezionata, Keith su precisa domanda del presentatore Jim Kerr se ci sarebbe stato un nuovo album degli Stones, ha prontamente risposto:"Oddly enough, just met with the boys and there will be a new album!"
Quindi non ci resta che aspettare fiduciosi, goderci il disco di Keef e augurarci che il nuovo album dei Nostri sia pregno di cuore, passione e classe come quello del Nostro immenso Pirata...
