06 dic 2012 - E' una vera e propria parata di star quella che Johnny Depp ha fatto sfilare nella tracklist di "Son of rogue’s gallery: pirate ballads, sea songs and chanteys", doppia raccolta di canti tradizionali pirateschi e marinareschi che include trentasei episodi interpretati tra alcune delle figure più importanti del panorama musicale e cinematografico internazionale: l'album, che verrà distribuito dall'indipendente Anti (label gemella della Epitaph, fondata dal chitarrista dei Bad Religion Brett Gurewitz) a partire dal prossimo 19 febbraio, raccoglie preziosi duetti tra Tom Waits e Keith Richards (non nuovi a collaborazioni: si pensi, ad esempio, a "That feel" da "Bone machine" del '92), Patti Smith e lo stesso Depp, Courtney Love e Michael Stipe, Iggy Pop e gli A Hawk and a Hacksaw, oltre che a contributi di Nick Cave e Warren Ellis, Michael Gira degli Swans, Broken Social Scene, Antony, Beth Orton, Big Freedia, Tim Robbins, Anjelica Huston e molti altri, oltre che a un contributo (ovviamente di archivio) di Frank Zappa (“Handsome Cabin Boy”, in origine associata a "Wedding dress song" e inserita nella raccolta di rarità postuma "Mystery disc" del 1998).

A curare l'operazione - oltre che a Depp - sono stati il regista Gore Verbinski e il produttore Hal Willner, praticamente lo stesso team che nel 2006 diede alle stampe il primo capitolo della collana, sempre edito dalla Anti, al quale presero parte tra gli altri Bill Frisell, Sting, Bryan Ferry, Jarvis Cocker e Lou Reed.

Ai miei tempi i complessi, anche a me piace chiamarali complessi e non band, e quindi anche loro, dovevano essere tutti perfettini, altrimenti non venivano accettati, forse neppure dai ragazzi. Poi hanno saputo andare contro corrente, come i ragazzi si aspettavano che facessero e questo è stato il loro colpo gobbo che li ha portati fino ad oggi. Certo che stavano proprio bene tutti uguali, ben leccati. Io li ho conosciuti e così e me ne innamorai all'istante.

Anche se non sono perfettini li trovo molto fashion. Lo era anche mick prima di Morticia. Ma la cintura di keith al concerto era favolosa

The producers of “12-12-12” which will be broadcasted live and providing viewing access nearly two billion people across the world through various platforms, announced today that The Rolling Stones will join the esteemed line-up of artists performing at Madison Square Garden on December 12, 2012. The concert event will feature an all-star musical line-up including Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, Dave Grohl, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Eddie Vedder, Roger Waters, Kanye West, The Who and Paul McCartney. “12-12-12” is presented by Chase and all proceeds will benefit the Robin Hood Relief Fund.

Event producers James Dolan, John Sykes and Harvey Weinstein issued the following joint statement: “ ‘12-12-12’ will be the largest concert event to ever hit the stage at Madison Square Garden, featuring the biggest names in music and the world’s leading entertainers. It was important to us that everyone possible around the world have the ability to watch the show through multiple platforms, networks and simulcasts and donate to this important cause.”

“12-12-12” will be seen on 37 U.S. networks and television feeds worldwide, radio and online streaming across North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. Clear Channel
Media and Entertainment will broadcast the concert live on its radio stations across the country, and will also video stream live on iHeartRadio, Clear Channel’s digital radio service, and across the websites and Facebook pages of its 850 stations. In addition, the concert will also stream live across several major online video providers, as well as being streamed and promoted by several digital media partners.

As the tri-state region begins to recover from Sandy’s stunning and acute devastation along the coastal areas of Long Island, Queens, Staten Island and New Jersey, there remains an enormous task of rebuilding both the infrastructure and thousands of shattered lives. “12-12-12” presents an important opportunity for the community and nation to come together to provide significant support to these communities as they confront staggering short- and long-term issues.
