Howlin’ For Hubert – The Apollo Theater, NYC – 24 February 2012

Last night the “Howlin’ For Hubert’ concert took place at the legendary Apollo Theatre in New York. Hubert Sumlin, known for his years backing blues legend Howlin’ Wolf, died on December 4th at the age of 80.
Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, Elvis Costello, Jimmie Vaughan, Buddy Guy, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Robert Randolph, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jimmy Vivino and many, many others were there to pay tribute to the late blues guitarist. The show was a benefit for the Jazz Foundation of America.

io invece dico grande Keith era ora che tornasse a suonare nel nome del blues si è fatto pure i capelli color cenere secondo me non manca molto per rivederli on the road stanno uscendo dai loro gusci ...beh a differenza di mick lui sembra proprio di esser stato in ritiro spirituale sempre una grande emozione vederlo suonare una chitarra vai keith

Le foto un po mi rassicurano...ammetto che per un attimo mi sono molto preoccupato nel vedere Keith senza chitarra, ma se come documentano le foto ha anche suonato, la cosa mi fa un grande piacere. Stavo pensando male...

...Ho appena visto qualcosa su youtube...Mah!Devo dire che come voce lo trovo molto migliorato rispetto al passato, come chitarra diciamo che...Ha ritenuto di dover tenere un "basso profilo" limitandosi al minimo sindacale...Siamo diplomatici e speriamo in bene, ma teniamo sempre bene a mente il fatto che ci sarebbe una bella e sostanziale differenza tra toh, dieci date in posti medio-piccoli e stop e un vero e proprio Tour mondiale in posti grandi come negli ultimi anni...Teniamolo sempre bene a mente per non cozzare contro la disillusione delle aspettative che ne potrebbe derivare, ottimisti sì e ci mancherebbe altro ma teniamo sempre a portata di mano un sano pizzico di realismo e di obiettività anche se ciò potrebbe farci male...

anch'io collegandomi a quanto detto da Mailexile avevo guardato i video su youtube e sinceramente si contento di vederlo sul palco ci mancherebbe, ma altrettanto perplesso vederlo come suonava ( ma suonava.... ? ) spero che sia stato voluto da lui esibirsi e suonare così tsnto per divertirsi con amici in una bella serata blues....mi auguro che nel prossimo tour dei rolling o anche solista di vederlo più attivo e meno sindacale......

Grande keith!!!!!!!!! Grande versione di spoonfool. Ma in questo video mi sembra che canta benissimo o e' solo la qualita' che fa' questo effetto.? Pero' peccato che sul web gira poco di questo concerto. Onestamente vedere keith sul palco mi da delle grandi emozioni.Pero' mi sembra appena inizia a suonare la chitarra stona tutta la canzone.

Mah! Speriamo sia colpa dell'audio perchè sembra che anche con la chitarra non suoni !
D'altra parte Keith è quello che da tempo preoccupa di più, certo ora che Ronnie è in forma si può sobbarcare lui gran parte del lavoro, se ci sarà qualche concerto (non ho mai creduto al tour), altrimenti la vedo dura, lo dico con il grande rispetto che ho sempre avuto nei confronti di Keith, ma a me non è sembrato che suonasse....
