2009-10-13 - Uscirà negli Stati Uniti il 24 novembre il nuovo doppio album dal vivo di Tom Waits, che documenta il tour "Glitter And Doom" dell'anno scorso. Il disco si intitola semplicemente "Glitter And Doom" e consiste in un primo CD con 16 brani tratti da 10 concerti differenti, mentre il secondo CD riporta un lungo monologo del cantautore americano. Sul sito TomWaits.com è possibile anche scaricare gratuitamente le prime otto canzoni del live. L'album viene pubblicato anche in versione vinile.

Ha raggiunto oggi i negozi "Glitter & doom live", album dal vivo che documenta l'ultimo tour mondiale di Tom Waits, svoltosi 2008: il disco, che include diciassette brani registrati a Birmingham, Edimburgo, Tulsa, Knoxville, Atlanta, Parigi, Milano, Jacksonville, Dublino e Columbus, sarà accompagnato da un Cd extra spoken word, intitolato "Tom's tales", e da un booklet di scatti inediti. La versione in vinile dell'album conterrà uno speciale codice che permetterà di scarica in mp3 il disco aggiuntivo direttamente dal sito della casa discografica dell'artista di Pomona, la Anti.

Tom Waits, nel nuovo disco un omaggio a 'Satisfaction' assieme a Keith Richards

12 ott 2011 - Uscirà il 24 ottobre "Bad as me" il nuovo album di Tom Waits. E iniziano a trapelare dettagli interessanti. Tra cui uno che promette bene, benissimo.
Una delle canzoni si intitola "Satisfied" ed è un omaggio esplicito a "Satisfaction" e ai Rolling Stones, addirittura c'è la presenza di Keith Richards, che duetta con il chitarrista di fiduca di Waits, Marc Ribot. L'omaggio è talmente esplicito che nel testo Waits canta:

I will have satisfaction
I will be satisfied
Now Mr. Jagger and Mr. Richards
I will scratch where I’ve been itching

Richards è presente anche in due altri brani del disco, "Last leaf" e "Hell broke luce". Keef aveva già collaborato diverse volte con Waits: una nel disco dell'85 "Rain Dogs" e l'altra in "Bone machine" (1992), cofirmando e cantando la canzone "That Feel". "Bad as me" è stato anticipato dal singolo che porta lo stesso titolo, ascoltabile a questo indirizzo: anche in questa canzone compare Marc Ribot. La tracklist di "Bad as me" è la seguente:

The album features guest guitar from The Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards. “I was talking to the record company and they say, "Any guests you want on the record?" And I said, "What about Keith Richards?" I was just joking, but somebody went ahead and called him,” explained Waits. “And then he said, 'Yeah.' And I said, 'Now we're really in trouble.'"

“I was really nervous. He [Richards] came with about 600 guitars in a semi-truck. And a butler. We were in these huge studios in New York, like The Poseidon Adventure. Huge, high ceilings in these rooms like football fields. They'd fill these things up with orchestras and we were in there with five guys. It felt a little weird. He killed me. I was really knocked out that he played on all those things.”
