La scaletta dello show

Aerosmith scaletta tour 2014
Walkin’ The Dog (Rufus Thomas cover)
Eat The Rich

What It Takes
Janie’s Got A Gun
I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing
No More, No More
Come Together (The Beatles cover)

Perry d'accordo con Kramer. 'Aerosmith, forse mai più dischi'

23 mag 2014

Ora tutti i nostri proventi arrivano dai tour.

Joe" (in Italia "G.I. Joe - La vendetta", nelle sale nel marzo 2013) ma la pellicola era stata fatta scivolare di sei mesi in quanto i produttori avevano voluto filmare nuovamente tutto in 3D.

Come riferito ieri da Rockol, Perry ha terminato di scrivere la sua autobiografia. Il libro è stato intitolato "Rocks: my life in and out of Aerosmith".

As a child spending his summers in New Hampshire, Steven Tyler would run a 50-foot wire from the back of his radio to the top of an apple tree in order to pick up WOWO, a Fort Wayne, Indiana, station that would play some of his favorite country songs. "I'd listen to things like Johnny Horton's 'The Battle of New Orleans,' " Tyler says. "I loved the Everly Brothers, Duane Eddy, Jerry Lee Lewis." More than half a century later, Tyler is connecting with his childhood love by cutting a country album in Nashville. He just released a single, "Love Is Your Name," which debuted at Number 33 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, and he hopes to wrap the album after Aerosmith finish a summer tour in August. "I feel like a kid who just got laid for the first time," says Tyler, 67. "Sometimes doing the same-old same-old gets a little constricting."

What drew you to Nashville?
I was here two years ago to present at a few awards shows, and I just fell in love with the place. I met [Big Machine Records CEO] Scott Borchetta. He offered to sign me to his label, and the rest is history. Nashville is a mecca of song-age. I feel like one of the Three Wise Men that saw the star falling into Bethlehem.

Did you worry that some Aerosmith fans aren't going to accept you going country?
I might have, for a minute. It was kind of like taking American Idol. I thought, "Would Bob Dylan have taken Idol?" But my heart and my muse sent me here.

If Dylan can write Nashville Skyline . . .
You know what I tell Aerosmith fans? Live with it. They don't know that Dan Hicks is huge for me, and I listened to him while making our first album. It's one of the things that spurred "Big Ten Inch Record."

Are there other Aerosmith songs with a big country influence?
"Cryin'." Listen to the lyrics. It was country — we just Aerosmith'd it. And how about "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing"? Mark Chesnutt put out a country version and had a Number One hit.

What's the difference between rock and country at this point?
Country songs really spell out what's on a guy's mind in no uncertain terms. Rock & roll can be a little more aloof. But country is changing. Jaren Johnston and the Cadillac Three and Florida Georgia Line are proving that you can go any which way. Modern country might add a little a cappella or raps or heavier beats. God knows Brad Paisley plays guitar like a motherfucker. I think country is the new rock & roll — everyone is trying to stretch out.

How do the guys in Aerosmith feel about what you're doing?
I'm sure they're not happy. But Joe [Perry] has done five solo albums. I just thought, "Hey, it's my turn in the barrel." This is a side project, which has now turned into a love of life. I think we got something here that the radio would love to play. Look, that's why I'm in it. I love to take the fucking power to wow to the 100th degree. It's just what I do.

What can fans expect from the Aerosmith tour?
The best rock & roll on the planet. Joe Perry is one of the last great touring guitar legends. The energy I feel with this band is ridonculous. I feel better than I ever did. We're going to kick some ass.

How is everyone in Aerosmith getting along at this point?
Better than ever. There's always the past, but we try and keep the past out of it. When Joe gets up in my shit about something, I say, "Don't squat with your spurs on." It's a band, and it's a family. I'll do it until I come screeching to a halt, all broken and battered and can't stand up anymore. I'll scream, "Yee-haw, what a ride!"

Are Aerosmith ever going to record another album? Joe said recently he wasn't sure.
I don't feel that way. The end product is always the song. That's the fulfillment and the joy. The only way out is through. Whether it's down the rabbit hole and making love to Alice, I'm always coming out of the rabbit hole – of course, after having a fight with the Queen of Hearts and the fucking Cheshire Cat. That's neither here nor there, but it certainly gives me a ton of stuff to write about.

Do you think that if you were still on American Idol, it wouldn't have been canceled?
I think it just ran its course. I love Keith Urban. I got a little peck on the cheek from J. Lo when I played the other night. That's all a man needs once a year.

Are you going to launch a tour in support of the country album?
Positively. Just not sure when. They'll be humongous shows I'll do these songs at.

You could do countrified Aerosmith songs.
Being the lead singer of Aerosmith, I'm not going to not do, say, "Cryin'. " And "Walk This Way" with banjo is ridiculous.

Aerosmith’s Brad Whitford Working on New Album with Ted Nugent Singer Derek St. Holmes; Tour Planned for the Fall

Immagine

Brad Whitford currently is on the road with Aerosmith, but once the band’s current North American summer trek winds down in early August, the guitarist will turn his attention to cool new project. The veteran rocker and Derek St. Holmes — the lead singer and rhythm guitarist on Ted Nugent‘s early solo albums — with whom Brad recorded the 1981 album Whitford/St. Holmes, are working on a brand-new album that they plan to support with a tour.

Whitford tells ABC Radio that he and St. Holmes began getting together to work on music because they both now live in the same town just outside of Nashville, which eventually motivated them to record a full album.

“We’ve been writing songs for probably…the last couple of years, and doing a lot of playing,” Whitford explains. “We play around town, around Nashville quite a bit. Yeah, we just decided we gotta do this record. We had so much material, we said, ‘Well, we better record this.’ It’s coming along really good.”

Brad says the project really got going once Tesla drummer Troy Luccketta agreed to take part in the proceedings.

“Once he came on board, we got right in the studio and went to work,” Whitford declares. “And it’s just coming out great.

Whitford/St. Holmes will kick off a tour in the fall, and already have four dates lined up in November. The group’s schedule current runs from a November 12 show in Milwaukee through a November 19 gig in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Brad tells ABC Radio, “We’ll be out playing wherever they’ll let us play.”

According to the band’s recently launched official website, Whitford/St. Holmes will be releasing a new single sometime in the fall, while the album is expected out in 2016. Rounding out the group’s lineup is veteran Nashville session bassist Chopper Anderson.

Here are all of Whitford/St.Holmes confirmed tour dates:

11/12 — Milwaukee, WI, Potawatomi Casino
11/13 — St. Charles, IL, Arcada Theatre
11/18 — New York, NY, B.B. King Blues Club & Grill
11/19 — Ridgefield, CT, Ridgefield Playhouse

Joe Perry Is Working on an Instrumental Solo Album

Immagine
It looks like Joe Perry‘s next solo project will truly let the music do the talking.

The Aerosmith guitarist has started teasing his next album on Twitter, explaining that now that he’s cleared his promotional obligations for his Rocks memoir off the calendar — as well as the band’s most recent tour — he’s been able to get down to work on what will be his fifth solo effort, which he’s decided will be a largely instrumental affair.

As for what the instrumentals will sound like, Perry’s still playing things close to the vest, and has coyly evaded questions of whether he’ll incorporate acoustic guitars or mandolins into his new arrangements. He’s also made it clear that he’s far too early in the recording process to share any kind of target release date — although he did hint that he’s already looking ahead to future solo projects.

The new album follows 2009’s Have Guitar, Will Travel, which Perry recorded with a band that included singer Hagen Grohe while Aerosmith were on hiatus. With singer Steven Tyler presumably tied up for the foreseeable future promoting his own upcoming solo LP, Perry could have a lot of extra time on his hands; as he admitted in a separate tweet, he doesn’t know when — or if — the band will reconvene for another record or tour.

While the bulk of Perry’s solo material has included vocals, he’s occasionally dabbled in instrumental territory; his song “Mercy,” which closed out his self-titled 2005 LP, was even nominated for a Grammy. While fans wait for more, Perry has also pointed out that his holiday EP, Joe Perry’s Merry Christmas, is being reissued later this year.

Joe Perry Says Aerosmith Hasn’t Decided to Say Goodbye in 2017

Immagine

Steven Tyler and Joe Perry appear to have a different view of things going on in the Aerosmith world. In a new interview, the guitarist downplayed Tyler’s talk of the group calling it quits after 2017.

“A farewell tour is something we’ve talked about doing for years, let’s say roughly in the last five years,” Perry told Rolling Stone. “It’s just something the band’s talked about at various times. At this point, the five of us have never sat down and said, ‘It’s time to do it.’ So ‘considering’ is an appropriate word for that statement. A farewell tour is definitely not confirmed.”

Last week, Tyler spoke of the band’s plans once he finishes touring behind his upcoming solo album. ” We’re probably doing a farewell tour,” he said. “Whether we do a farewell tour or go into the studio and do another record, I’m just excited about it.”

Perry said they’ll likely re-assess the situation after they tour South America this fall. “We’re talking about some different options at this point,” he continued. “Whether it’s to do some shorter tours like the last couple we’ve done or go into the studio and knock a few songs out and see how that feels, I’m not sure yet. But right now we’re really taking time off from the band and everybody’s off doing their own thing.”

During this bit of downtime from Aerosmith, Perry hasn’t been sitting around the house doing nothing. He’s been working on a mostly instrumental solo record of his own, with the first song, “I’ll Do Happiness,” surfacing yesterday (April 12). He’s also booked a few dates as a part of Alice Cooper‘s side project, the Hollywood Vampires.

Joe Perry’s New Solo Album Will Include Iggy Pop

Joe Perry has been assembling a new solo album for a few months now, and just last week a song surfaced from the sessions. The track, “I’ll Do Happiness,” features vocals by veteran singer Terry Reid, whom Jimmy Page wanted in Led Zeppelin.

It appears that Reid isn’t the only one joining the Aerosmith guitarist on the LP. Iggy Pop and David Johansen are also slated to appear.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Perry said Pop visited the studio after a show in California and listened to some of the songs Perry had recorded. “Within a couple hours, he had finished [recording] everything, and that was really the turning point for the record,” he said.

Johansen, who’s known Perry since the ’70s, when the former was singing for the New York Dolls, also stopped by to guest on a few cuts. “We’ve been friends for such a long time, but we’ve never really had a chance to get in the studio and get in a solid situation,” noted Perry. “We got three or four tunes.”

Perry has been working on the upcoming album, which doesn’t have a title or release date yet, as he waits to join the Hollywood Vampires on tour. The supergroup — which also includes Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp — released its self-titled debut album last year and will be hitting the road in May. He said one of the reasons he’s been holed up in a California studio is so he can bring in a few more guests for his upcoming record.

“Boston’s a great city and there are some really talented cats, but out here there is always somebody passing through or they live out here,” he explained to Rolling Stone. “It’s just been a wider spread of friends and neighbors I can ask if they want to come in and have a go.”

Even though the album was tentatively scheduled to be an all-instrumental LP, it has since shifted direction with no real template. “It’s got all kinds of sounds, but I would probably say ‘funky’ is the quickest way to put it,” Perry said. “Everything starts with rhythm and that vibe. When I’m writing songs, it always starts with some variation of R&B and funk, whether it’s been from the first Aerosmith stuff ’til what we’re going to work on this afternoon.”
