Confirmed: Reunited GUNS N' ROSES To Play Next Year's COACHELLA MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL




U.S. music industry magazine Billboard says that it has obtained "confirmation" that GUNS N' ROSES, featuring singer Axl Rose and guitarist Slash, will headline next year's edition of the Coachella Music And Arts Festival, set to take place April 15-17 and April 22-24 in Indio, California. The band is also in talks to play as many as 25 football stadiums in North America in the summer of 2016. In addition, GN'R will be one of the first acts to play the new Las Vegas Arena, set to open April 6. GUNS N' ROSES is said to be asking up to $3 million per show, with tickets topping out in the $250-$275 range.

The official lineup for Coachella will be announced on or around January 5.

An advertisement for what appears to be a GUNS N' ROSES reunion tour is playing before "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". The ad shows a raucous crowd with the band jamming in the background and Axl Rose riling the already hyped crowd up even more, but not much else.

The image on GUNS N' ROSES' official web site has also been changed — and now it's the band's old logo. The previous website was deleted entirely, and is now only displaying the logo.

Fans quickly took note of the update, fueling speculation that the band is planning to announce a reunion of the classic GN'R lineup.

Rumors about a reunion have been circulating since the summer, when Slash said that he and Axl Rose repaired the rift that helped splinter the group.

In addition to the revamped web site, Epiphone, the sister company of Slash's guitar company Gibson, is reporting that something is definitely up: "We've been hearing the rumors for months about a reunion of the original lineup of GUNS N' ROSES. But even our well-placed Epiphone informants are still keeping details under wraps. But is there something going on? Yes. But what exactly, we can't say yet. Though numerous mags are confirming a 2017 reunion tour (or at least a massive anniversary show), no one from the original lineup is going all-out on record. But you can bet if the web is a-buzz already at the rumor of 'massive' stadium shows, something good is in the works and that much we can tell you."

A report emerged last month indicating that the GUNS N' ROSES lineup for the reunion trek may not be exactly what fans had in mind. According to the report, the tour will feature founding members Rose , Slash and Duff McKagan on bass — but that's all for the original roster.

Instead of also seeing original guitarist Izzy Stradlin and drummer Steven Adler — or even "Use Your Illusion"-era drummer Matt Sorum — fans may instead get current guitarist Richard Fortus and drummer Frank Ferrer joining the big three, as well as longtime keyboard player Dizzy Reed.

Più o meno da quando Slash, storico chitarrista dei Guns N' Roses, aveva raccontato in alcune interviste della sua riconciliazione con Axl Rose, cantante della band, dopo almeno un paio di decenni di litigi. Adesso però è ufficiale: i Guns N'Roses saranno gli headliner del prossimo Coachella Festival, dunque, per la prima volta dal 1993, gli appassionati vedranno nuovamente sul palco insieme Slash e Axl. La reunion è prevista per due weekend, il 16 e il 23 aprile 2016 a Indio, ma non è ancora stata resa nota la formazione della band. Se Steven Adler (batterista fino al 1990), Matt Sorum (suo sostituto) e il chitarrista Izzy Stradlin non hanno ancora confermato la presenza, il bassista Duff McKagan ha postato su Instagram, e così ha fatto anche Slash, le due pistole con le rose, simbolo del gruppo. Dopo lo scioglimento, nel 1996, sia Slash che Axl Rose avevano intrapreso carriere separate. Il cantante dopo una gestazione lunghissima ha presentato nel 2008 "Chinese Democracy", album costato milioni di dollari in spese di produzione, poi portato in tour fino al 2014. Niente a che vedere però con il successo dell'album di esordio Appetite for Destruction, uno dei più venduti di tutti i tempi (30 milioni di copie) e considerato uno dei più importanti della storia del rock. Ora la notizia è ufficiale: separati a metà degli anni '90, Axl e il chitarrista Slash torneranno insieme sul palco californiano con i Guns N' Roses. Anche Slash ha postato la notizia sul suo profilo Facebook, pubblicando su Instagram il logo anni Ottanta della band con lo sfondo del cartellone del Coachella. Anche il bassista Duff McKagan ha condiviso l'immagine ed è considerato abile e arruolato per l'evento. L'annuncio sarebbe dovuto arrivare, come anticipato da Billboard, durante il Jimmy Kimmel show del 5 gennaio, ma Axl ha cancellato la sua partecipazione all'ultimo istante. Certo che se venissime confermata come lineup questo ibrido tra Old GNR e New GNR sarebbe un po' una reunion a metà.
Io penso che Steven Adler fosse uno dei motori ritmici della band insieme ad Izzy e la sua importanza per il suono dei GNR è uguale a quella di Charlie per gli Stones. Poche storie.

IZZY STRADLIN Joins TWITTER And Denies Involvement In GUNS N' ROSES Reunion



A new Twitter account purportedly belonging to former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Izzy Stradlin has appeared on the social media site, according to The Pulse Of Radio. Two sources have apparently confirmed to The Wall Street Journal reporter Neil Shah that the account is real, with Stradlin himself — or the person behind the account claiming to be Stradlin — tweeting a video of himself playing guitar.

But more importantly, the first tweet from the @IzzyStradlin999 account on February 22nd read, "At this point in time, I've no involvement in the upcoming April 2016 GNR shows."

It's been speculated that Stradlin would have some limited involvement — such as a guest appearance — at some of the upcoming GUNS N' ROSES reunion shows, which currently feature original members Slash, Axl Rose and Duff McKagan.

Fans online have offered "proof" both for and against the account actually belonging to Stradlin.

Evidence of the former includes a never-before-seen selfie of the guitarist, the aforementioned video, reported private correspondence between Stradlin and several friends and a few others on Twitter claiming it's definitely him.

Alleged evidence that the Stradlin account is not real includes some strange and now-deleted tweets, music sites not running his GUNS N' ROSES news despite being tweeted at directly by the owner of the account, and the fact that no one from GUNS N' ROSES has started following him or vice versa.

Rolling Stone got in touch with Izzy, who confirmed the Twitter account was indeed his. "I know there's a lot of questions regarding my Twitter account," Izzy said in a voicemail. "But it's me. I opened the Twitter account. There was just so much speculation going on regarding my involvement and studio recording. There's so much misinformation, so I wanted to clarify that I'm not in the studio recording with any of the GUNS N' ROSES guys. At this point in time, I'm not involved in the actual shows … A lot of stuff [fans] are reading isn't true."

GUNS N' ROSES has six shows scheduled so far, all in April: two at the Coachella Music And Arts Festival, two in Las Vegas and two in Mexico City. The exact band lineup has yet to be confirmed.

The reunited GUNS N' ROSES kicked off its much-anticipated concert at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, California Friday night (April 1) just after midnight with a one-two punch of "It's So Easy" and "Mr. Brownstone".

Joining singer Axl Rose, guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan on stage were keyboardist Dizzy Reed, guitarist Richard Fortus and drummer Frank Ferrer. Also appearing with them was second keyboardist Melissa Reese, an up-and-coming pop/urban artist who studied classical voice and piano from adolescence.

The concert featured Slash performing the songs "Chinese Democracy" and "Better", from GUNS N' ROSES' 2008 album "Chinese Democracy", live for the first time.

Despite widespread speculation that "Appetite For Destruction"-era GUNS N' ROSES drummer Steven Adler would appear as a special guest at last night's show, he did not perform at the gig. Neither did Matt Sorum, who replaced Adler in GUNS N' ROSES and recorded the highly successful albums "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II" (both 1991) and "The Spaghetti Incident" (1994).

A source close to GUNS N' ROSES told LA Weekly that Adler is having back surgery, which is the real reason his band ADLER canceled its April 1 show at the Whisky A Go Go. The LA Weekly writer claims that he has "also been told [Adler is] not ready to tour with GN'R, not yet, and maybe not ever."

E' l'equivalente di chiamare Rolling Stones una band formata da Mick, Ronnie, Darryl, Chuck...e poi Stefano D'Orazio dei Pooh al posto di Charlie e Drigo dei Negrita al posto di Keith.

Anche io avrei voluto vedere, anche solo al Troubadour, la formazione storica a cinque.
Il problema dei Guns N' Roses, a differenza degli Stones, è che una line up 'storica' non esiste.
Penso che questo sia dovuto ai continui cambi di membri nel corso degli anni, anche nel periodo d'oro.
Per assurdo la formazione storica potrebbe essere quella del 1991 che vedeva già due turnisti, Matt Sorum e Dizzy Reed.

Izzy Stradlin penso sia un po' sopravvalutato. Certo, ha scritto alcuni brani importanti della band, era l'anima più rock n' roll (non l'unica) ma in termini di suono non penso abbia dato chissà quanto, sopratutto in studio in cui quasi tutte le parti ritmiche sono di Slash. Voglio dire, il motore della band non era Solo Stradlin, piuttosto un insieme di ingredienti indispensabili e meno.
Faccio questo discorso prendendo in considerazione quelli che sono, per me, i due album che hanno il Suono dei GNR, i due Use Your Illusion.

Non sono d'accordo sull'ibrido. Nel senso che i tre membri ufficiali sono Rose, McKagan e Slash (i tre ingredienti indispensabili), solo uno in meno degli Stones e questo vale dal 1991. Gli altri musicisti infatti sono buoni turnisti, come del resto lo erano Sorum e Clarke, con la differenza che quelli attuali non hanno nessun peso.

Riguardo alla formazione, questa line up ha lo stesso peso che avrebbe quella con: Mick Jagger, Bill Wyman, Keith Richards, un Rick Richards di turno e Steve Jordan. Ma mi rendo conto che è un giochetto inutile...

Il loro ritorno non mi dispiace, penso possano dare ancora qualcosa, almeno due album. Band strana comunque.

poveracci il Dio denaro è sempre li...ma il peggio Axl con gli AC/DC !! già con l'uscita di Malcon dovevano fermare tutto..per i Guns invece stendo un velo pietoso!!

Izzy Stradlin è una presenza importante. E' chiaro che tutto è possibile, basti pensare ai Queen senza Mercury, ai Faces con Hucknall, gli Inxs senza Hutchence, i nostri Litfiba con quel tale al posto di Pelù ecc...
Ma sono progetti che lasciano il tempo che trovano, forzature di natura economica, parodie di un qualcosa che sarebbe meglio lasciare alla storia della musica. In alcuni casi è anche patetico. Fossi in Stradlin continuerei a stare lontano da questa strana rimpatriata.
